Big (and serious) Changes...
May. 25th, 2005 10:06 amDecisions. Decisions. Yes, I think I've finally made some. After talking to Erica a few nights ago, followed by a conversation with a guideance councelor at MSU, I've finally made some decisions. Hopefully, not too late. I've decided I'm going to enter the DPT program at UM-Flint. I'm surprisingly ok with this. I'm also going to apply at Eastern Washington University after I get my pre-reqs in order (and just to keep the doors open) but UM is a good place to start. And possibly to stay. Yes, I too am very surprised at this decision. So here's the lowdown:
1) We're staying in Michigan
2) I'm going to UM-Flint
3) We've found another apartment where we'd like to move to (for health reasons) hopefully at the end of June with a Month-to-Month lease.
4) At the same time, we're going to be looking into purchasing a home, in Owosso.
5) We've invited Dadra to join us in the house search, providing we find the right house, circumstances and area, "depending" she may consider moving in with us.
The decision took forever, but here's some of how the decision came about:
I know I'd ultimately like to teach. I think I'd like to do so on a university level. Looking at my options to go for a Ph.D. (according to the councelor at MSU) included going back for a bachelors degree and then on to a Ph.D. or Masters. By getting my DPT, I bypass all that, get a functional degree, and can do research at UM-Flint. After I get my DPT, I can choose if I want to work at community college or go on for my Ph.D. Either way, I'll be able to make money and have the financial stability to start a family whenever we chose. And that is significant. I don't want to be a poor college student for too long, because I do want to start a family sometime in the next few years. If I want to teach, I will find a way. And maybe, with my background I could go more towards managing a facility and other PT's and training them in aquatics and such. I'd be good at that. And it would be different than just working with patients. With my Business Degree, that also would be a big bonus. So maybe... somehow, I actually am finding my own way.
Wow... yes, so that's what's the what. *sigh* So today I fill out the applications for UM-Flint.
